Kai Gero Lenke is a director, writer, and producer. Born in Bremen, Germany, he studied Creative Writing at the German Literature Institute in Leipzig and the Swiss Literature Institute in Bern. From 2012 to 2015 he attended Columbia University in the City of New York where he received his MFA in Directing and Screenwriting.
As a filmmaker, he produced, wrote, and/or directed films in Australia, Lebanon, Germany, Norway, and the US. In 2018 he was hired as the head writer for a crime drama TV series for UFA Ficiton / ZDF in Berlin.
His screenplays have received funding from Creative Europe, medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg, nordmedia, Film- und Medienstiftung NRW, and the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and Media (BKM). He is a recipient of scholarships by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, the German Academic Exchange Service, the German National Academic Foundation, and the Wim Wenders Foundation.
He is currently developing the sci-fi drama ECHOES, which will be produced by NiKo Film Berlin and NADCON ("Millennium Trilogy", "The Bridge"); as well as the comedy drama series THEY JUST DON'T LIKE YOU ANYMORE for Netflix through the Impact Accelerator Program.
He is being represented by Felix Bloch Erben Management and Agency in Berlin.
